The Lady Mountaineers of Eastern Oregon University will enter this year’s National Championship tournament with a 26-6 record on the regular season and 16-2 in conference play. The Lady Mountaineers come in to the tournament ready to avenge a first round loss to Southwestern College (Kan.) 67-65 in last year’s tournament. Eastern Oregon is led by leading scorers Madeline Laan (11.8 ppg) and Kassy Larson (11.2 ppg). The Mountaineers had a 12 game winning streak snapped in the Cascade Conference finals against the Oregon Institute of Technology, falling 57-51. Outscoring opponents by an average of 18 points a game, the Lady Mountaineers will utilize a strong offense to attempt a second round berth, after a 4-4 opening round record in the past. Making nine appearances as a program, the Mountaineers will be looking for their first program National Championship this year.
