The Marian University Knights enter the NAIA National Tournament with a 28-5 overall record and a 14-4 mark in the Crossroads League, which was good for a second place finish in the conference regular season. Marian won the Crossroads League Tournament Championship over Huntington (Ind.) 63-59. This is only the second appearance for the Knights in the NAIA national tournament. Lakan Hasser-Smith leads the Knights in scoring with 16.1 points per game. Hasser-Smith was named to the All Crossroads League first team and finished as the league’s fourth leading scorer. She is also second on Marian University’s all-time scoring list. As a team, the Knights score the ball well shooting 47.7% from the floor, which is the best shooting percentage in the country. On November 5th, along with Olivet Nazarene, Marian University set the NAIA record for most total points scored in a game with 259, defeating the Tigers, 135-124. The Knights lost in the second round of the 2011 NAIA National Tournament, their only other tournament appearance.
