Located in Sioux City, Iowa, Morningside College enters the NAIA National Tournament with a nearly perfect record of 32-1 overall and 20-0 in the Great Plains Athletic Conference and are ranked #1 in the nation. The only blemish to the Mustangs’ record came in the Great Plains Athletic Conference Tournament Championship Game as Concordia University (Neb.) avenged two prior losses to the Mustangs with a 80-72 victory. This will be their 13th NAIA tournament appearance in a row and 14th overall. The Mustangs have already won three national championships and are looking to add to that total this year. Morningside is led by senior forward Ashlynn Muhl who averages 12 points per game and a team high 8.9 rebounds per game. Muhl is ranks 9th in offensive rebounds in the country, pulling down nearly 4 offensive boards a game. Sophomore Taylor Bahensky leads the team in scoring with 12.7 points per game and also has a team-high 86 steals. As a team, the Mustangs get after the ball on defense, ranking number fourth in the nation with 443 total steals and number five with 13.4 steals per game. Morningside is also number five in turnover margin with a plus 6.9 turnover margin.
