The St. Xavier Cougars come into Sioux City ranked 4th in the country, sporting a 29-3 record on the year. With an 18-0 conference record, St. Xavier won the regular season Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference championship, but lost in the conference tournament finals to number 6 Cardinal Stritch, 72-58. The Cougars are talented on both offense and defense, ranking first in NAIA division 2 in both assists and blocks. The Cougars are also beating their opponents by an average of nearly 24 points per game. St. Xavier is led by senior forward Morgan Stuut, who leads the team in points, rebounds, assists, and steals per game. Stuut also averages a double-double per game, with 16.9 points per game and 12.48 rebounds per game. The Cougars kicked off the season with a 73-72 victory over then number 1 St. Francis (Ind.), and ultimately had a 6-3 records on the year against opponents ranked in the Top 25. The Cougars are coached by Bob Hallberg, who has coached the St. Xavier women’s program since its inception. Hallberg has compiled a 354-107 record at St. Xavier.
