Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.)


The No. 10 ranked Dakota Wesleyan Tigers, who are led by Head Coach Jason Christensen, are heading to the NAIA DII Women’s Basketball National Championship. This will be their first trip to Sioux City for the tournament in over 10 years.

Dakota Wesleyan University is located in Mitchell, South Dakota. They hold a 25-8 record for the GPAC regular season, and received an automatic bid into the national tournament this year. They faced the Morningside Mustangs for the conference title, but lost 80-59. They otherwise had an impressive season with six quality wins. Early on they defeated Tabor 83-48 giving them a great start to the season. They won the GPAC quarterfinal game against Hastings College 75-67, and the semifinal game versus Mount Marty 82-78.

The Tigers have three team leaders to look out for. Junior Erica Herrold averages 16.2 points per game, sophomore Ashley Bray averages 5.6 rebounds per game, and freshman Rylie Osthus averages 3.8 assists per game.
