Mallory Gruben is a junior from Yuma, Colorado. She studies journalism and biology at Hastings College, a curriculum that allows her to combine her passion for writing with her interest in science. She hopes to work one day as a science journalist for a major newspaper or magazine.
Currently, Gruben serves as the editor-in-chief of the “Hastings College Collegian”; the public relations representative of a local food assistance nonprofit (Food4Thought); and the publicity co-chair for the Hastings College Academic Showcase Day Committee, hosted by Alpha Chi. She has also served as the chief copy editor for the “Collegian,” the managing director for Hastings College Media, the science and technology bureau chief for HC Media Public Affairs and a member of the Artist Lecture Series Student Symposium.
Professionally, Gruben has interned with the “Hastings Tribune” and worked as a freelance reporter for the “Yuma Pioneer.” She maintains an ongoing internship with the Hastings College Office of Marketing and Communication.
This is Gruben’s first trip to Sioux City, and she is excited to work with her peers in HC Media to broadcast the NAIA DII Women’s Basketball National Championship. Her role on the team will focus primarily on taking photos during the games and editing/publishing content for the MyNAIATourney website.
